Two Twenty – Derby
Simon Foote Architects was approached to design a £1.5m new development for bespoke solid wood staircase company, Two Twenty. The design provides suitable workshop space for the client’s expanding business, distribution facilities and to house the company’s headquarters.
The design creates a front of house area on the corner of the plot, with car parking situated along the southern boundary, ensuring the main offices are the visual focal point when arriving at the premises.
Utilising the new building to showcase one of their own designs, a solid walnut staircase takes prime position in the main entrance. The front of house corner of the building houses several meeting rooms and office spaces over two floors, as well as kitchen and canteen facilities to service the large workshop which accommodates the majority of the overall build. The build incorporates a Biomass heating system to reuse the company’s waste products, such as wood offcuts from its staircase manufacture. The property has been awarded an A rating EPC (Energy Performance Certificate)
Simon Foote Architects were later commissioned to carry out work on phase 2 of the site development, providing a large commercial unit for letting.
