Grade 2 Listed – Longlands Farm – Derbyshire
These grade 2 listed, series of former cow sheds and farm workers cottages were combined into one large dwelling in the 1980’s. The current owner purchased the property in 2012 with a view to convert the remaining cow shed and link it to the other parts of the former farm stead.
The farm stead is defined by Historic England’s as being listed due to its group value. Therefore, it was important that the approach taken would allow the structures to still be read individually whilst ensuring that the new oak framed connecting elements where both seen as being new and also having a relevance to this time period of construction.
The end result is a sensitive, clear and contemporary response that’s has ensured the historic building is retained and, in our mind, enhanced for the foreseeable future. The photos speak for themselves’.
