Eco House – Repton
We were commissioned to design a new build detached property situated in the village of Repton set in the South Derbyshire countryside. The client wanted the design to have an environmental focus incorporating ground source heating and biomass so a passiv haus principle was adopted to achieve this. A contemporary design, to reflect the modern technology being used internally, using a combination of brickwork and timber cladding was used to achieve the desired outcome. A unique roof shape has been incorporated into the design, allowing us to maximise the sun path, to create a large area of south facing solar tiles to power the building. We also specified a timber frame structure due to its sustainable qualities, speed of build and low energy use in the manufacturing and installation process.
The site looks out onto open fields so the property has been positioned to make the most of these views. Open aspect windows and balconies have been incorporated into the design to frame the view and to bring natural daylight into the 4 bedroomed property which features a modern open plan kitchen, dining, and living area as well as a separate formal lounge.
