SB House

Simon Foote Architects have gained a reputation for creating unique buildings within sites that can be constrained and difficult to develop. We were appointed to design a new home in a picturesque rural setting with privacy, green belt, and trees to consider.

The home in Kirk Langley, Derbyshire, is surrounded by views over fields and is located at the top of the small slope. Working with the constraints, to guide the design, we have utilised a contemporary upside down configuration incorporating a roof terrace to maximise the surrounding views. Natural daylight floods the living areas through the use of roof lights positioned to ensure the property does not encroach on the neighbours’ privacy. This layout also allows for the garage to be integrated within the ground floor footprint, to house the owners’ car collection.
