Crown Inn

Simon Foote Architects were appointed to assist the owners of this historic building with the application for the Derby Historic England Partnership Scheme Grants, to repair and reinstate the historic features of the 1800’s former mill managers home.

A traditional stonemason was commissioned to repair much of the ground floor facade which had become worn and weathered over the last 200 years. Replacement timber frame sash windows were installed alongside cast iron rainwater goods, and a specialist rendering company was also employed to prepare and apply several applications of traditional lime render to the upper floors and side elevations of the building.

The end result has dramatically improved the building’s features and will hopefully encourage redevelopment of other properties within the area too.
